Synopsis

The work presents the figure of Edward Abramowski as a man, socio-political activist and scientist. He was the author of numerous works integrating knowledge from various areas of science: philosophy, sociology, psychology, pedagogy, ethics and aesthetics. As a social and political activist, he was also a valued creator of the Polish version of cooperativism. The protagonist of the study created his own original philosophical doctrine, in which he placed the human beings in the center. From the point of view of human needs, the thinker dealt with all socio-political, economic and social phenomena. Granting moral values a superior role in the life of an individual and society, he proved that solving social problems cannot occur without ethical reflection. His life school project was a concept of formal and informal education and upbringing aimed at children, adolescents and adults. In his opinion, no theory or study from books can replace the school of social self-government realized within the framework of cooperatives According to Abramowski, the ideas of cooperativism, solidarity and fraternity, democracy, freedom, social education, cooperation and self-education change people in ethical terms, teaching independence of responsibility, creating conditions for an individual to develop.
