The monograph is an attempt to further organize the issues of security sciences. He continues the author's deliberations taken in the book Introduction to security
sciences [2017]. In the first part, he justifies that national security is the subject of research on these sciences. It characterizes the evolutionary process of defining national security, its approach, its dimensions and level. He explains that the process of videning and deepeining national security is still being carried out, and its results are new in its dimensions. The main part of the monograph is taken up by two key problems of security science, namely the study of the level of national security and the issue of changing its concept. There is no scientific work in the literature on the subject, addressing the issue of national security in its entirety. There are many attempts to study the power of the state. They are so-called national security indexes. However, determining the level of national security also requires the development of an index of threats and
risk assessment, both in relation to national security indexes (power indexes) and the threat index. The above state of affairs results from the universally accepted state - centric concept of national security, which should be regarded as anachronistic. In line
with the new concept of national security adopted by the author, the monograph proposes solutions regarding the question of examining the level of national security in a comprehensive manner. The analysis of the national security strategy of selected seven countries carried out in the monograph shows that it is necessary to change the concept of national security. The outline of this concept is presented in the last chapter. The proposed concept of national security is based on two foundations: the process of integrating the values of reference subjects and their balancing against the background of knowledge, understanding and humanism of social change.
