THE PRINCIPLE OF CONTRAST PARALLELISM AS A RHETORICAL BACKGROUND OF THE MOTIF OF THE CANCELLATION OF THE CURSE OF FIRST PARENTS IN OLDEST SLAVIC HOMILETIC TEXTS
Synopsis
The paper deals with the motif of cancellation of the curse of first parents in oldest Slavic homiletic literature. It examines the patristic foundations of the motif adaptations and their conceptual structure. On this basis, the author attempts to find a rhetorical background of the motif in homiletic texts. The author relies on the concept of contrast parallelism, presuming the homomorphism of entities that contradict each other. Thus, the article provides an interpretative application of several concepts: recapitulation, Christ as the last Adam, the Mother of God as the new Eve, and the idea of redemption, renewal and deification.
