Cultural wealth of artists with disabilities – the phase of changes in Poland
Synopsis
The participation of people with disabilities in culture is currently a phenomenon known and largely supported by the social environment. Their differences in dynamic range and frequency of implementation of this kind of local projects is primarily characterized by the degree of involvement of public benefit organizations interested in incorporation into the culture of their charges, as well as the active contribution of local governments and administration. The article presents the results of research in the field of participation of people with disabilities over the 2008-2019 year. The respondents included pupils, adolescents and adults actively involved in artistic events and other organized forms of artistic education. The conclusion is a series of proposals for educators, therapists and the environment in the field of improving initiatives and projects involving artists with disabilities into the area of culture and art. It leaves much to be desired still the issue of preparation for the adoption of environmental culture permanently disabled persons, as well as the quality of the currently proposed initiatives of local communities. Only when the social environment accepts the participation of people with disabilities in the culture as a universal phenomenon, you can seriously talk about the effects of implemented social inclusion of all artists.
