Synopsis

The collections, although they constitute a small percentage of the resources of the State Archives in Piotrków Trybunalski Branch in Tomaszów Mazowiecki is a very important and a valuable source for research on the history of Tomaszów Mazowiecki and the surrounding area. They belong to them the legacy of the „cursed soldier” Jan Czarnecki and a youth activist Jerzy Smolarek. The collections of regional history enthusiasts are equally valuable: Włodzimierz Koperkiewicz, Jerzy Wojniłowicz and Jan Zaborowski. This article presents their profiles and scientific achievements. Handover was also discussed collections to the archival facility in Tomaszów. Other collections of the department are also valuable, such as: a cartographic, iconographic and photographic collection as well as posters and leaflets. The article characterizes the contents of these collections. The collections of the Tomaszów archive are very rich in historical information, territorial curiosities and events related to the situation of individual regions in20th and 21st centuries. They are a valuable source for genealogical research and the history of “little ones homelands”.
