Development and assembling of the prototype press for microforming of metallic materials
Synopsis
Micro forming is an increasingly popular method of producing microelements smaller than 1 mm. However, the development of such technological processes at this length scale is extremely difficult because many microelements often reveal unexpected mechanical properties in comparison to their macroscale counterparts. Therefore, the development and assembling of the low-cost prototype press for microforming of metallic materials for lab-scale investigation is the goal of this research. Subsequent design stages of the prototype press as well as examples of its practical application, are presented within the paper.
