Synopsis

In recent years, the process of depopulation of peripheral areas, especially in south-eastern Poland, has been very noticeable. This process is disadvantageous for the inhabitants and local authorities of these areas. One of the forms affecting the improvement of the socio-economic situation of depopulated areas is tourism, with its landscape and cultural values. The authors attempted to assess the influence of the tourism sector on the economic development of the commune of Józefów, in Lubelskie Voivodeship. The study took into account statistical data for the years 2005-2019 and illustrated the results in the form of tables and charts.
