Benthic fauna of small water reservoirs located in agriculturally used areas
Synopsis
The study focused on understanding the taxonomic composition and diversity of benthic fauna of small water reservoirs located on organic and integrated farms. Increasing agricultural production through the use of large quantities of mineral fertilizers and pesticides contributes to the deterioration of the natural environment, and consequently also to biodiversity. The highest value of the diversity index of macrozoobenthos studied was recorded in water reservoirs on organic farms. This may indicate a better impact on the natural environment than in the case of integrated farms.
