PSYCHOLOGY OF OLD AGE AND AGING IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF PENITENTIARY ISOLATION
Synopsis
The article is about the problem of old age and aging of persons serving a sentence of imprisonment. It focuses on the biological, psychological and psychosocial needs of the elderly and the possibility of satisfying them while in prison. It is commonly believed that convicts have much better medical care, and thanks to the constant times for a walk, sleep and meals in prison, they lead a better and calmer life than many seniors outside the prison. The article tries to show both the bright and numerous shadows of spending the autumn years in prison. Attention was also paid to the challenges faced by the Prison Service related to the growing population of inmates over 60 years of age.
