The impact of the epidemic on crime in the Podkarpackie province

The aim of this chapter is to show how much the dynamics of crime in the Podkarpackie Province has changed over two years. The chosen time frame is quite varied when it comes to the crime phenomenon. It is visible that in 2019 there was much more criminal crime, while in 2020 it can be seen that economic crime is already dominant. The change is due to the fact that in 2020 we had a lockdown in Poland caused by the spread of COVID-19. This situation forced the bourgeois Podkarpacie to spend more time at home, because the introduced restrictions resulted in a smaller number of mass events, such as discos, matches, and other mass events, which had a large impact on a smaller number of fights and beats, which usually occurred by accident and after consuming alcohol or other stimulants. Economic crime has increased during the pandemic. The Podkarpacie Police recorded more and more crimes online. The police continuously monitored the situation and tried to counteract these phenomena, although it was often impossible to catch criminals.
