FASTER solutions for first responders

The text presents innovative technologies for emergency services, developed within the framework of the European project FASTER. An international consortium is working on solutions to help first responders who act in different circumstances. Technologies discussed in the chapter include smart wearable textiles for rescuers, a common operational picture provided by the command centre, different wearable devices for humans and animals, augmented reality technology, or the ResCuE device that allows sending messages when the telecommunication infrastructure is damaged. Equipping emergency services with FASTER technologies will increase the situational awareness of those involved in operations, improve communication between them, and increase the safety of first responders, which may result in greater effectiveness of their actions.
