The monograph is the result of research on theoretical issues of information security. Their main goal was to verify the existing arrangements in relation to fundamental concepts relating to the essence of this security dimension and to present author's proposals in this regard. The first part of the book is devoted to the ways of understanding information and showing its meaning. Within it, the methods of defining information were reviewed against the background of the characteristics of the subject of interest of information science. Then, the main theories of information were characterized, the classification of information, its features and functions were presented, and the treatment of information as a resource was referred to.
The second part contains analyzes of the information society. They are focused on its origins and stages of development, ways of defining, features and functions, as well as threats and challenges accompanying this society. An important element is also consideration on artificial intelligence.The third part deals with threats and information barriers. It opens with a general description of threats to information security. Then, it was shown as specific categories of threats: information crimes and disinformation. The final parts of this part of the monograph contain considerations on fight and information warfare, as well as analyzes devoted to information barriers. The monograph ends with considerations on the understanding of information security and information security and the accompanying policies (information security policy and security policy of information).
