Synopsis
The monograph Women’s Writing: Three Portraits. Sketches on Lesser-Known (Unknown) Women’s Literature at the Turn of the 19th and 20th Centuries (Part I) offers an indepth exploration of women writers and their forgotten or entirely unknown literary works. It brings to light the stories of women from a bygone world, presenting a significant contribution to our understanding of the historical, existential, social, and cultural conditions in which these women lived and created. The volume emphasizes female experiences, aspirations for autonomy, the gradual process of emancipation, struggles for rights, national engagement, and traces of modernity in both worldview and artistic expression.
The literary herstories aim to uncover the individual and distinctive qualities of women’s writing – revealing unique authorial perspectives, creative techniques, and imaginative worlds. The specific focus on lesser-known or undiscovered women’s literature has shaped the book’s structure, which comprises five chapters.
