REVITALIZATION OF MATERIAL CULTURAL MONUMENTS IN THE CONTEXT OF THE CULTURAL SECURITY OF THE JEWISH COMMUNITY IN POLAND
Synopsis
The research on cultural heritage in the perspective of security sciences is closely related to the category of cultural security. Therefore this article deals with cultural security in the material aspect. The article draw attention to the fact that Poland's cultural heritage is also made up of national and ethnic minorities. The autor of this article focuses on the cultural heritage of the Jewish community and on the losses that the community suffered during the Holocaust. The first Jewish functional construction in Poland was established in the Middle Ages. The WW2 led to the destruction of the Jewish world not only in the personal, but also in material terms, as the destruction of material traces of Jewish culture was part of the plan of total annihilation. The change in the political system stopped the rebuilding of Jewish material culture immediately after the war. The revitalization of important places for Jews begins only after 1989. First of all, it includes cemeteries, synagogues and other religious buildings.
