Implementation of the principle of sustainable development in cities

Development and environmental protection are inseparable elements of many areas of life, analyzed from the point of view of various scientific disciplines. In the context of urban development is particularly important principle of sustainable development. The chapter explains the concept of sustainable development and eco-development. In addition, the tasks of cities in the field of environmental protection resulting from the applicable legal provisions are discussed. Attention was also paid to an instrument conducive to sustainable development such as the urban adaptation plan and the smart city concept. The dogmatic method was applied. The current position of doctrine and case law was analyzed. The article has been enriched with practical examples with case study elements. The considerations undertaken in this study confirm the accepted hypothesis that it is possible to develop cities simultaneously in accordance with the principle of sustainable development while maintaining the natural balance.
