New Public Management in local government units – selected aspects

Following chapter addresses the issues of new public management in local government units. The aim of the study is to systematize the characteristics of the NPM concept, as well as to identify factors affecting the management system in territorial self-government units. In Polish local government units, the implementation of new public management solutions has been going on for over ten years. The NPM's key objective is to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the public sector, its cost effectiveness and increase the quality of services provided.
