Effectiveness of NATO after 1990: “the Afghan test”
Synopsis
Afghanistan was before the invasion of the coalition forces and is still a fallen state, treated objectively in the policy of the US and other coalition states. Military operations of successive presidential administrations in Afghanistan were generally enjoyed only by the relative support of public opinion in the USA. The Afghan NATO test has made policymakers aware that the main problems still lie in the training of local security forces with an emphasis on anti-partition fighting as well as the reconstruction of infrastructure and local markets, as well as strengthening the level of trust in the region through fight against corruption and drug trafficking, reduce crime, stability of state cadres. It is reasonable to say that the entire NATO campaign in Afghanistan has a negative impact on the image of the Alliance and the US as the leader of the Euro-Atlantic community. NATO's inefficiency during the Afghan operation contributed to the relative weakening of the Pact and the erosion of the hegemonic position in the international balance of power. In addition, it turned out that the Alliance in terms of military, political and economic is not able to arrange the region of the Middle East at its own discretion.
