Pedagogical thought of Cz. Czapów in resocialization work at Youth Educational Center in Jaworek
Synopsis
The Youth Education Center in Jaworek is an educational institution, where several dozen socially maladjusted orphans aged 13 to 18, benefit from social rehabilitation and education. The working concept of the institution is based on principles provided by the creator of the modern theory of social reintegration Cz. Czapów and included in the rehabilitation pedagogy. The subjectivity of the child in the process of education, the quality of the interpersonal relations among community members and the care for the social climate based on safety, observance of social rules and norms are the dominant values and main directions in the institution. They are the moral backbone on which the resocialization process is based. According to the assumptions of Cz. Czapów’s pedagogy the educator’s work is planned on the basis of the individual diagnosis of each student, guiding him on this basis to revalidation and developing groups. In working, the Center uses the methods of creative resocialization pedagogy, and in the teaching process teachers allow students to experience individual successes matched to their potential and capabilities. The 10th anniversary of the Youth Education Center in Jaworek establishment became a pretext for honoring the name of a prominent pedagogic educator whose pedagogical mentality is the credo of its pedagogical work and message to members of her community.
