Detection technologies in work of law enforcement agencies in European Union
Synopsis
Fighting crime and terrorism as well as counteracting various threats is an important aspect of security policy of both European Union and its member states. Since security policy turns out to be a big challenge for public and private sector, EU authorities start a number of undertakings connected to preparation and implementation of the latest technologies of detection – into practice. These technologies have and an increasing practical application in the work of EU security agencies, as well as in work of Polish Police and special services in counteracting and fighting crime, terrorism and threats in general. The aim of the paper is to present possibilities of utilisation of those technologies and – simultaneously – to emphasize the requirements of preserving civil rights and freedoms.
