Synopsis

The creation of a complete, objective matrix of international security challenges is an objectively feasible task. It is much harder for researchers to develop strategic reflection and create reliable projections of the evolution of these challenges and to draw up reliable scenarios. This certainly complicates the interpenetration of many of them. It seems then appropriate to treat this synergy as a certain holistic complex of challenges. Undoubtedly, a combination of important environmental, economic, political, technological and, above all, military factors (and many others) should place the Arctic at the forefront of such analytical and prognostic combinations. The article discusses the issue of potential hegemony in the Arctic, and more specifically - the prospects of Russian domination in this region and its implications for the regional security system (ultimately extremely important for the global security system).
