Synopsis

The foundation of the human personality is its identity, which, despite its multidimensionality, is an indispensable element in the life of every human being, helping: define who we feel, what we express with ourselves, what social group we are connected with and distinguish ourselves from others. Identity is perceived as the ability to control us with our lives, but in the case of people with disabilities, a large part of such control is deprived of such control. Shaping the identity of people with disabilities is an exceptionally complex and specific process, through: a cluster of experiences that are not available to most non-disabled people, loss of fitness, often no opportunity to make free choices and social stigma, but possible with the support of loved ones and other people with the right knowledge and experience.
