History and cordial geography in Zofia Kossak`s Bursztyny (Amber)
Synopsis
The aim of the article is to reflect on Bursztyny (Amber), a collection of stories by Zofia Kossak. In an interesting way Zofia Kossak presents universal and particular issues, still current both in Poland and worldwide. The book deeply affects and enriches the reader’s feelings and knowledge about man, nature, Polish geography and history. The article attempts to prove that the content and climate of Bursztyny (Amber) help to deepen the knowledge of the past. The book presents history of the Polish nation in its struggle for independence, exposing its strengths and weaknesses. In Bursztyny (Amber) Zofia Kossak presents her stories in a pictorial way. This can be seen mainly in the presentation of historical figures, as well as in description of landscape and nature.
