Zofia Kossak’s writing for children and young readers

The article discusses Zofia Kossak’s works for children and youth. Such books constitute a substantial part of the writer’s accomplishment. There can be found fairy tales as well as historical, adventure or autobiographical novels like Kłopoty Kacperka góreckiego skrzata, Puszkarz Orbano, Ku swoim. In all of them the author presents a noble idea, caring for artistic quality and for tastes of younger readers. Excluded and limited by censorship in the People’s Republic of Poland, her books were long absent in libraries and hardly known by young people. Nowadays Zofia Kossak’s works are rediscovered by new generations of readers, successfully matching their tastes.
