Siedlce city nameship (XVII – 20. XXI century)

Linguistic knowledge and the state of research on urban nomenclature are the
subject of consideration. Against the background of the history of the city of Siedlce are shown topographical changes. The work has a diachronic approach. In terms of semantics, the motivation of city names is indicated, and in the dictionary
analysis – in the case of streets and squares of Siedlce – the names were
divided into those without creations and with formal language creation. The last
chapter is a comparison of the two European naming trends of Siedlce in Poland
and Cambridge in the UK.
