Archiwum Józefa Kaczanowskiego w zasobie Archiwum Historycznego w Kijowie

Józef Kaczanowski was a nineteenth-century intermediary between petitioners trying to confirm his nobility and the heraldry of the Kingdom of Poland. He was a lawyer by profession, lived and worked in Warsaw from the 1830s. During his activity, he dealt with, among others archival and genealogical queries on the orders of their numerous clientele. The obtained materials were used to confirm or obtain nobility legally confirmed by the heraldry of KP. The documentation of the remaining Kaczanowski activity consists of materials dispersed in many archives. The largest collection of notes, genealogical notes, summaries of arguments and original copies of the files are in the resources of the Historical Archives in Kiev. This resource also included manuscript arms, which Kaczanowski bought during work, such as A great tea. The collection of documents is currently available to researchers and is one of the most valuable archival collections in Polish genealogy.
