Synopsis

The figure of Julian Godlewski is worth recalling, considering his contribution to the development of Polish culture in the country and abroad. This year is a unique opportunity to do so, due to the 120th anniversary of the Godlewski’s birth and at the same time the 40th anniversary of his death. The life and philanthropic activities of Godlewski are evidenced by materials collected, among others, in the Archives of the Polish Museum in Rapperswil. The article presents the characteristics and content of the collected materials, the methodology of its development, and the usefulness of the materials in the preparation of an exhibition about Julian Godlewski. The issue of the dispersion of materials constituting the archival heritage of Godlewski, which are in the archives of other institutions and private persons, was also discussed.
