Superfekundacja – zadziwiające zjawisko biologiczne

Superfecundation is rare biological phenomenon, relies on fertilization at least two different ova with sperm cells as a result of separate coituses occured in short time span. It is estimated that heteroparental superfecundation affects about 30% ovine multiple pregnancy, similarly bovine and human rate is extremely rare – 1-5%. Probability of monopaternal superfecundation in the animal world decreases drastically, for example human superfecundation stands at 2%. Therefore, the probability of overfertilization depends on the species involved. The aim of the article is to present the phenomenon itself, to study the mechanism and causes [McClure i in. 2017, Berry i in. 2020].
