Aktywność w mediach społecznościowych – szansa czy zagrożenie dla demokracji?

The aim of this article is to identify opportunities and threats related to activ-ity in social media, as well as to define its significance for democracy. Social media in their original version were created mainly for entertainment purposes and to facilitate interpersonal communication. Over time their functions have been enriched with a variety of tools, so that in addition to their original purpose, they also play an important role in politics, marketing or education. However, although the development of new information and communication technologies has contributed to faster and easier participation and political mobilization of network users, activity in social media may also pose a significant threat to democracy.
