Since the dawn of time, information has been an important element in ensur-ing security and development for both individuals and the state. Recently, its role and importance has been growing rapidly. It takes the form of not only data, but also knowledge and skills. Nowadays, the vast majority of countries with entities of social life and organizations depend on access to information that determines their development and position on the market. Additionally, the vast majority of citizens owns, disposes and processes messages, information, materials (documents), which, for various reasons, should not be generally available. This applies to information resulting from the nature of work as well as the broadly understood private sphere (correspondence, banks, offices, schools, universities, health care facilities, etc.). Due to its role and importance, it is exposed to many different threats. Therefore, the most important task and responsibility of the government and its specialized services in this field is to protect this information. It can be ensured by a properly organized and efficiently functioning system, which will guarantee restrictions on the access of persons, especially to sensitive information, on its proper processing, as well as the use of appropriate and sufficient physical and ICT security measures.
