The Nazi and the Barber, a satirical and grotesque novel by Edgar Hilsenrath, is a confession of the former Nazi mass-murderer Max Schulz, who after WWII hides from persecution by adopting the identity of his Jewish friend Itzik Finkelstein. The article concentrates on a scene from the first part of the novel, which depicts Adolf Hiltler’s fictional speech in the form of a parody of Jesus Christ’s Sermon on the Mount.
