MIŁOSIERDZIE W SAKRAMENCIE POKUTY W UJĘCIU KSIĘDZA PIOTRA SKARGI

The article concerns mercy in the sacrament of penance as understood by Piotr Skarga. The teachings of Piotr Skarga on penance in Kazania o siedmiu sakramentach (Sermons about seven sacraments) is compared with the teachings of the Council of Trent on the sacrament of penance and on the justification. Piotr Skarga faithfully refers to the teachings of the Council, writing on the subject of mercy to the degree required in order to discuss the teaching of the Council. Greater emphasis on God's mercy and love revealed in the sacrament of penance was placed by Skarga in his sermon on the third Sunday after Pentecost. The reason for this was the pericope read at that time, showing Jesus' mercy for sinners (Lk 15, 1-10).
