Local security can be defined as a process that seeks to achieve a state of calm and to develop an a bility to neutralize emerging threats in a local, geographically or culturally defined space. The aim of the article is to identify factors that in geographical and social context influence the level of local security. Placing local security in the public space, definition of its tasks, analysis and identification of
threats in this area, will allow, in a local perspective, confirming its contribution and importance in building security of individuals and communities. Bearing in mind that the aspect of loca l security is still gaining in importance and that local patriotism is a strong current trend, this issue is an interesting subject of research on many levels and through the prism of many entities participating in the phenomenon.
