Streszczenie

Foreign files are the products of non-party offices that have been discovered among the PZPR fonds due to its leading role in the management of the state (its administrative, economic structures etc.). Various organisations from the party’s circle used to send them to its committees for approval or information, and over the years, some them were archived together with party files in the archives of the PZPR Voivodeship and Central Committees. Some of these materials had been destroyed in the party archive, however a significant number was still preserved when the PZPR was dissolved and its archive taken over by the state archives. The files became a real methodological problem for the state archives. Nevertheless, foreign files are of great value to users, they are even more precious when original file groups of the institutions that used to send the party their documents cease to exist. Although some of them may be unique remain unnoticeable to users due to the way they have been analysed or registered. The solution is either, wherever possible, to join foreign files to original file groups or create suitable access points in the archival information system. The second solution would involve creating their description in accordance with archival standards, especially ISAAR (CPF), which shows how to depict a relation between a file author and other collective bodies as well as between him, archival materials and other collections. These descriptions should be entered into the ZoSIA system which is currently being used by the state archives.
