Streszczenie

Archive studies comprise various fields of science. One of them is archive studies in museology. This particular field is arousing more and more interest among historians and archivists. Museums as places where all traces of human activity are stored become an interesting ground for archival exploration. This article attempts to present the aforementioned issue, which will evolve even more in the future. By comparing the legal acts that regulate both archives and museums' activity, one can observe a symbiosis between these two areas, and at the same time, it provokes reflection upon the lack of appropriate instruments for the complete archival organisation. The problem is simply to recog-nize what might be an archival material and what an element of a museum collection. The author analyses these problems on the example of a few selected museums.
